Protect Your Cars Paint Long-Term With Paint Protection Film
Auto Armour specialises in the application of self-healing paint protection film (PPF) from the world’s leading manufacturers. We are factory trained and approved by Xpel and have 6 years experience installing film which therefore guarantees that all of our installations are carried out to the highest of standards. All of our installations come with a 10-year manufacturers warranty against yellowing, discolouration, peeling, cracking and hazing.
Stone Chip Protection
Paint protection film works as an invisible self-healing layer of armour over your vehicle’s paintwork. It maintains an indefinite showroom finish by fully protecting the paintwork from stones, road debris, minor scuffs, birdlime, and insect splatter. As a result, your vehicle will maintain that impeccable condition throughout its life, increasing its residual value should you choose to sell it.
Constructed from a combination of advanced elastomeric polymers, Xpel Ultimate Plus special clear coat not only prevents the film from discolouring due to contamination and ultra-violet radiation but also heals itself from swirl marks and light scratches that can occur through ordinary washing and drying or daily driving.
Contaminants like bug splatter, bird droppings, sap and road tar wipe off Xpel Ultimate Plus super-slick surface with a cloth, while scuffs and light scratches in the surface of the film disappear within minutes in the heat of the sun or the warmth of your garage, leaving your car pristine and the protective film like new.
Xpel Ultimate Plus mirror smooth finish ensures that no unwanted texture commonly referred to as “orange peel” is added to the appearance of your car, leaving the protected surface indistinguishable from the factory paint.

Frequently Aked Questions Regarding Paint Protection Film
What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
PPF is Polyurethane film that is applied to a vehicle to protect it from stone chips, swirl marks, light scuffs, etching from bird droppings and other road debris that can damage the paint of your vehicle.
What are the benefits of having paint protection film on my vehicle?
First and foremost, paint protection film is about protecting your vehicle from the elements. Whilst it may not stop a large stone from high speed damaging your vehicle, it will keep it protected from general stone chips, scratches and other forms of surface damage. This is good news for aesthetic reasons and aids the value of your vehicle by keeping the paint original and looking new.
What brand of paint protection film do you use?
We offer Xpel Ultimate and SunTek Ultra (also known as Llumar Platinum) paint protection films.
All have a self-healing top coat and are available in a gloss or satin finish and carry a 10 year warranty.
Is the paint protection film guaranteed?
Yes, the film we use carries a 10 year parts and labour warranty against cracking, peeling, staining, yellowing and hazing.
Will paintwork fade evenly with paint protection film?
Yes, paint protection film (PPF) has been designed to allow UV rays to penetrate through the film.
Can a ceramic coating such as Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light or similar be applied to the paintwork before the film is installed?
We do NOT recommend applying sealants or ceramic coatings to the parts of the car that will be covered with film. The low surface energy of such products will cause adhesion problems both during installation and over the life of the product. In addition, it is worth noting that there is really no benefit to applying sealant to the paint before the film, since the film will provide far more environmental protection to the paint than a sealant ever could.
Can I apply a ceramic/glass coating on top of the film and how does it affect the self-healing feature?
Yes, but it’s important to note that the coating should only be applied AFTER the paint protection film is installed. The coating will not interfere with the self-healing properties of the paint protection film.
We recommend Xpel Fusion Plus Ceramic Coating or Gtechniq Halo and offer customers the option to have either of those applied after installation of film at an additional cost.
I have had my vehicle re-sprayed, how long should I wait before having paint protection film applied?
We recommend that the re-sprayed paintwork be left for a minimum of four weeks to allow all solvents to evaporate before any paint protection film is applied.
How does the paint protection film heal itself?
Self healing paint protection film uses a special polymer in its clear coat that flows even though it is cured. This allows the clear coat to find its natural level again after being disturbed on the surface.
How deep a scratch will heal?
The clear coat is designed to heal surface scratches and common swirl marks that occur during routine washing of the car. If the scratch penetrates through the film’s clear coat, it will not heal.
How long does it take for a scratch to heal?
The time it takes for a scratch to heal depends on the severity of the scratch and the ambient temperature. Minor scratches usually heal in one hour at room temperature (22°C). In warmer climates, healing time will be shorter. The healing process can be accelerated at any time by pouring hot water over the scratched area.
How does paint protection film resist staining?
The clear coat has a very low surface energy, which makes it extremely difficult for organic compounds to stick to the film. Insects, bird droppings and environmental contaminants (which would normally cause yellowing) such as road oils, exhaust smoke and pollution can be removed during regular washing.
What if a stain does not come off the film during normal washing?
If ordinary car wash or soap and water won’t remove a stain, there are a variety of products that can do the job. In most cases simple isopropyl rubbing alcohol will remove anything on the surface of the film. In cases of more severe staining, or where something has been left on the film for a long period of time, a sparing amount of lacquer thinner can be used. Bug and tar remover is also effective.
Can the paint protection film be washed & waxed?
Yes, the film is meant to be washed and waxed on a regular basis. We recommend a high quality wax or polish to prolong the appearance of the film.
Will the paint protection film be visible after its applied??
The film is optically clear so once applied it is virtually invisible. However, where the film ends the edge will be visible (we do wrap edges were its possible).
Is the paint protection film cut on the vehicle?
No. The patterns are cut prior to installation via a plotter and PC software to fit the panels perfectly.
